Where do the price observations come from?

A “price observation” is the value of an actual transaction in the secondary market. This differs from shop prices which represent retail offerings. Especially for high-valued whiskies, the difference between real price observations and retail shop offerings can be significant.

The price observations displayed on Whiskystats are sourced from whisky auction houses. See our auction house overview for more details on which auction houses we monitor.
